Pick your own Fruit- wild Blackberies

Wild Blackberry are now ripening in late may.where can you find wild blackberrys in Fannin County.Try the old railroad track that paralels hwy 56. Blackberrys likes good drainage and seem to enjoy rocky topsoil. the old railroad seem to fit thie bill. On the 15th I bick a quart of berries there in less than a hour
A great outing for the family This is a great experience for kids to learn where there food comes from. They will also be surprised at how sweet and Great the flavor is of ripe off the vine food. Not only is sugar not added it is not needed. Freeze into 1 cup ziplock bags and have cobblers and muffins all year.
When in season there is
Apricot Peach,Blackberry,Plum,Blueberry( June) & pecans(Fall)

Sam Rayburn House Museum web site

Sam Rayburn, one of the most powerful and influential politicians of the 20th century, was in his second of 24 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives when he built a two-story home in 1916 on a 125-acre farm just west of Bonham. The modest 12-room home cost $2,800 to build.
The home was remodeled and enlarged in 1934. At that time, a fourth pillar was added to the frontal facade, and a kitchen was added a few years later. The home exists today as a 20th-century time capsule that preserves the Rayburn family home in the state it existed at the time of Rayburn's death in 1961. The home contains all original Rayburn family furnishings.
